A little man in a BIG world

Yesterday was quite special. Apart from the fact that I didn't have to worry about booking back in at night, the whole family had our belated mother's day celebration. As promised, we got onto the Flyer for a spin and it's quite an experience being so high up in the air with nothing more than pieces of metal to hold us up. We took photos and spent most of the 30min trip just enjoying the view. Everything's so small from up there, it's a pity that the trip was at 5pm and the weather was so hot that the air above Singapore looked quite dusty. I'll make a trip back some other time once the construction of the IR is complete and when the sky is darker. The atmosphere will be alot nicer...

Dinner was a buffet at Trader's Hotel. The food was pretty good but the variety was disappointing. SJ and I formed our gameplan for the night and the target was to survive our "10 course" meal, 3 of which are deserts :D At the end of the day, we barely survived...Not bad though...managed to try everything and also sneak back some cheese to bring to camp to eat :P It was a great night and we managed to catch up quite abit, I'm hoping for more gatherings (and food)hahaha.

Time for some photos?

Haha! I got you!

There's too little hours on weekends.

Woof Woof! Maybe I'll end up in doggy wing...

Tomorrow's Mother's Day...thing is I can't be around to celebrate it with my mum because of duties. I guess the flyer will have to wait.

Apart from that, the course is coming to an end! I'm grateful to have met many new faces who've made the course very enjoyable indeed. I'm also thankful for the care and concern shown and the many interesting and pointless discussions and chats we had. It's been my privilege to have met such good company. Let's keep giving our best for the last few weeks and go out with a bang!

I/C...is this how you report strength...

It's been a damn long week, and I'm glad it's over. My term as Course i/c is finally over and it's the longest appointment because of the stand-in I had to do the week before. I admit it's hard to lead men especially when you are a man yourself. There's always people who won't listen to you and continue doing their nonsense while you as i/c will face the punishments from the sergeants standing by the side evaluating you and at the same time trying to make life difficult for you. If there was rank, you could just screw everyone and solve the problem right away...

Standing infront of 2 platoons demands the highest standards of drills (which was something i didn't possess), so when any mistakes are made, they are very obvious. Thanks to my bunk for telling me about my mistakes which i made. The appointment also opened my eyes to the different characters around me. Now i know who are the "workers" who'll willingly to do alittle extra, making sure everything is finished on time and who are the chao keng...Other than that, alot of my free time went to doing administrative stuff. It's part of the job i guess. Anyway, it's over and i hope i did a relatively ok job even though i did get scolded quite abit...

Now to canoe. Clocked in about 42 km of paddling and 2 weights sessions this week. It's not much but it's better than a normal weekend. The speed is coming back slowly and that's a good sign. Now i just have to rest well and get through field camp which starts on monday @ 4am. Maybe if there's time and the higher ups allow, i'll go visit ninja and bobo at whiskey.

Urgh...P.tkg...seriously, i hate that place...
