Flying-nocturnal-mouse-with-sonar-man

Time is so limited and restricted these days that it's hard to really take a step back and enjoy. I guess the only response I have now is to make the time for enjoyment. And keeping that thought in mind, I finally managed to watch the Dark Knight on friday evening.

I must say, I enjoyed it alot. It's one of the better superhero movies in my opinion because it's not about 1 person saving the world with kick ass moves (in funny suit), using gadgets with technology from the year 2099, becoming a public icon and being a favourite among the children (and the ladies). It's about the people in this world, how they behave, how good and rotten they are and how the human spirit can prevail through any terrible situation. It also shows what really is a hero. "Hero" in this case didn't refer to the standard stereotypical knight in shining armour on a white horse who has just done some fantastical deed by vanquishing evil and getting all the glory or as the dictionary puts it,

"A person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities."

The Dark Knight showed the other side of being a Hero, namely the personal sacrifices, difficult choices and challenging of the very foundations (eg. morality) that make us who we are. Okay, I still can't stand batman having a permanent sore throat but the movie was good. In the case of the Joker, I agree with all that has been written about the fantastic portrayal of the character. I remember that Joker used to always creep me out while I sat in front of the TV watching those Batman cartoons. This Joker was as creepy or even worse. Indeed Joker is a very sophisticated character who's funny yet with a touch of evil and pyschotic-ness.
Now fiction aside, life is pretty standard now. Go camp on weekdays, come out and train in the evenings, sleep and try to be awake & fresh the next day. It's a very packed routine, but there isn't any other choice. It's also about time I get started on my driving so that I'll have a license by the time I'm totally out of SAF. I wonder if i can pass...maybe I don't possess any god given talent in driving...

Time to go, try to enjoy the coming week.
